July 21, 2026 – The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Msafiri M. Jackson, yesterday held a consultative meeting with academic and non-academic staff to discuss key university governance, policy, administrative, academic, and development matters.
The meeting began with registration, followed by a devotion and opening prayer by the Secretariat. Staff were officially welcomed by Pr. Abigael Osoro, who emphasized the importance of collective engagement in advancing the University’s goals.
A key agenda item was the presentation of Council resolutions by Prof. Mueni Ndiku, highlighting the implementation and significance of the University Statutes, University Policies, Employee Handbook, and the University Organizational Structure. The Vice Chancellor underscored the role of these frameworks in promoting effective governance, accountability, and operational efficiency across the institution.
The session on the Employee Handbook, led by Mr. Amon Tenai, provided staff with an overview of its key provisions and the preliminary implementation process. The presentation aimed to enhance understanding of employee rights, responsibilities, and institutional expectations.
Updates on Academic and Student Affairs were also shared, focusing on initiatives designed to strengthen academic excellence and improve the overall student experience. Discussions highlighted the University’s commitment to quality teaching, learning, and student support services.
On finance and development, Prof. Kenneth Otieno, alongside Prof. Mueni Ndiku, CPA Prisca Misoi, and Mr. Robert Migai, presented updates on financial matters and ongoing development projects. Staff were briefed on progress made in various projects and the University’s efforts to enhance financial sustainability while supporting institutional growth.
The meeting also featured a presentation on the 2026/2027 University Calendar by Dr. Elizabeth Metto, providing staff with key academic and administrative timelines for the upcoming year.
An interactive session allowed staff members to ask questions, seek clarifications, and share comments on issues affecting the University community. Responding to the observations raised, Prof. Msafiri M. Jackson reaffirmed the University’s commitment to transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
