Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Lecturer in the Theology and Religious Studies Department, at the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton.  The Lecturer should be reporting to the Head of Theology and Religious Studies Department.

Required Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  1. An earned PhD degree in Religious Studies or its equivalent from an accredited university;
  2. Master’s degree in the relevant field from an Adventist university;
  3. Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant field with at least a G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher- or Second-Class Upper Division from an Adventist university.
  4. KCSE with at least C+ or its equivalent qualification;
  5. Have the ability to teach at university level and provide existing academic rank, if any, which is in line with the University’s Appointments and Promotions Criteria.
  6. Shall be appointed on a one-year contract renewable, subject to a positive performance report by supervisors.
  7. Satisfactory Performance Contract Assessment reports.
  8. Proficient in the use of computers especially SPSS or other statistical software, School Management System, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Access, E-Learning, Moodle platform and Internet.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  2. Promote the mission of the department and the University;
  3. Plan and conduct research
  4. Develop teaching materials for blended learning.
  5. Supervise postgraduate students in research activities.
  6. Participate in the preparation of departmental plans and documents;
  7. Attend and participate in seminars, workshops and conferences in the relevant field;
  8. Participate in planning, development, implementation and evaluation of curricula in the department.
  9. Participate and contribute in the department/school meetings, and other departmental/school activities;
  10. Be an Academic Adviser to students;
  11. To assist in the supervision of Assistant Lecturers/Tutorial Fellows when they are teaching undergraduate students;
  12. Set, process, moderate and mark examination.

  14. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or delegated by the University Officers, Dean of School or Head of Department as deemed necessary by such officers;
