Office of the Human Resource Manager

Position: Lecturer/Tutorial Fellow

 

The university of Eastern Africa, Baraton is seeking for knowledgeable and passionate individuals to join our faculty as Lecturers/Tutorial Fellows in the following areas:

Position 1: Lecturer/Tutorial Fellow in Management, Economics, Econometrics

Position 2: Lecturer/Tutorial Fellow in Networks and Communication

 

Qualification Requirements:

Position 1: PhD/Masters in Management, Economics, Econometrics from accredited and recognized university and teaching experience at university level, plus ability to teach Quantitative Techniques, Statistics and a wide range of courses in business studies.

Position 2: PhD/Masters in Networks and Communication or closely related field plus deep understanding of networks and communication principles, protocols, and technologies, including but not limited to LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, network security, wireless communication, and cloud computing. The applicant should also be familiar with network simulation tools and software, such as Cisco Packet Tracer, GNS3, or OPNET. Professional certifications in networks and communication, such as CCNA or CCNP or Huawei Certifications will be an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver engaging lectures and facilitate interactive classroom discussions.
  2. Develop comprehensive course syllabus, lesson plans, and instructional materials, including online modules, ensuring alignment with program objectives and industry standards.
  3. Design and administer formative and summative assessments, such as quizzes, exams, and projects, to evaluate student understanding and progress.
  4. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to enhance their learning experience and promote academic growth.
  5. Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages active participation, critical thinking, and collaborative learning among students.
  6. Guide and mentor students in their academic and career development, including advising on course selection, internships, and research opportunities.
  7. Contribute to the ongoing program development, including curriculum review and online content materials and also improvement initiatives.
  8. Engage in scholarly activities, such as research, publications, and conference presentations, to enhance professional growth and contribute to the academic community.
  9. Collaborate with other faculty members to promote interdisciplinary learning and leverage cross-disciplinary expertise.
  10. Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned by the university.

Office of the Human Resource Manager

Assistant Accountant 

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Accountant to join the accounting staff in the Finance Office at the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton. The Assistant Accountant will be in charge of financial accounting and reporting including but not limited to the preparation of accurate monthly financial reports in a timely manner, journal entries, reconciliations, preparation and updating of the Asset register, account analysis and other relevant activities. The Assistant Accountant will work and report to the Chief Accountant.

Required Minimum Qualifications and Experience 

The successful applicant should have the following:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting option
  2. The applicant with CPA (K)/ACCA shall have added advantage.
  3. Thorough understanding of key accounting concepts and GAAP
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, etc.)
  5. Proficiency in SunPlus Accounting package will be an added advantage
  6. Ability to assess and recommend improvements for processes and procedures and willingness to learn new concepts and work with a team to find solutions
  7. Initiative, organization and planning skills
  8. Effective verbal and written communication skills
  9. Customer service orientation and interpersonal skills
  10. Honesty and confidentiality
  11. Passion for continuous improvement
  12. A dedication to the UEAB philosophy and mission and values
  13. Willing to work with students, faculty and staff from various cultures in an international setting.
