Walking for Resilience, Walking for Hope

NANDI COUNTY, Kenya – The University of Eastern Africa, Baraton (UEAB), in collaboration with the Nandi County Government and the Kenya Red Cross Society, successfully participated in the Red Cross Power of Humanity Walk, bringing together students, county officials, healthcare advocates, humanitarian workers, and members of the public in a show of solidarity and community spirit.

Held under the theme “Walking for Resilience, Walking for Hope,” the event highlighted the importance of building stronger and more resilient communities while raising awareness of humanitarian causes that continue to impact vulnerable populations across the region.

The walk attracted hundreds of participants who marched through designated routes in Nandi County, demonstrating their commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at improving health, disaster preparedness, and community welfare. The event also served as a platform to encourage collective action in addressing challenges facing communities, including climate-related disasters, health emergencies, and social vulnerabilities.

Speaking during the event, representatives from the Kenya Red Cross emphasized the organization’s commitment to alleviating human suffering and strengthening community resilience through partnerships with educational institutions, county governments, and development stakeholders.

UEAB officials praised the collaboration, noting that the university remains committed to community engagement and humanitarian service.
