The University of Eastern Africa, Baraton (UEAB), under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Msafiri M. Jackson, yesterday hosted a special celebration at the vice chancellor’s residence to commemorate South Sudan’s Independence Day alongside the university’s South Sudanese students.
The event brought together members of the university administration and students in a warm atmosphere of friendship, cultural appreciation, and unity. Present were Prof. Msafiri M. Jackson, Vice Chancellor of UEAB, together with the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance and Planning, the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, UEAB Marketing team, and UEAB’s South Sudanese students.
The gathering highlighted UEAB’s commitment to creating an inclusive and multicultural campus environment. University leaders emphasized that while the occasion honored South Sudan’s Independence Day, such celebrations are not limited to South Sudanese students alone. UEAB remains committed to recognizing and celebrating the cultures, achievements, and national milestones of all international students represented within the university community.
Speaking during the event, university leaders reaffirmed the institution’s dedication to fostering a sense of belonging among students from diverse backgrounds. The celebration provided an opportunity for meaningful interaction between students and administrators while strengthening the bonds that make the UEAB community a family.
The South Sudanese students expressed their appreciation to the university leadership for recognizing their special day and for continually supporting international students through initiatives that promote cultural exchange and mutual respect.
As UEAB continues to embrace diversity, events such as these demonstrate the university’s commitment to nurturing global citizenship, intercultural understanding, and unity among its students. The celebration served as a reminder that, regardless of nationality, every student is a valued member of the UEAB family.
