BARATON, Kenya – The West Kenya Union Conference (WKUC) has officially voted to hold the Physical Fitness Marathon 2027 at the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton (UEAB) in February 2027.
The union-wide event is expected to attract a large number of participants from across Kenya, promoting physical fitness, healthy living, and community engagement. Organizers anticipate that the marathon will become one of the most significant wellness events on the Union calendar, bringing together church members, students, professionals, and fitness enthusiasts from various regions.
To facilitate preparations, the Union has already established a seven-member Board tasked with planning and coordinating the event. In addition, UEAB will constitute a Local Organising Committee (LOC) to support the Board and oversee venue arrangements, logistics, hospitality, and other operational requirements.
Preliminary discussions regarding the marathon have already been held between representatives of UEAB and members of the Union Board. The meeting focused on early preparations, coordination strategies, and ensuring that the university is ready to host the anticipated influx of participants and guests.
A notable presence during the discussions was a distinguished athlete recognized as a World Gold Medalist at the 1968 Mexico Games and a World Silver Medalist in Munich during the 1970s. Her participation brought inspiration and valuable insight to the planning process as stakeholders reflected on the importance of physical fitness and excellence in sports.
Speaking during the consultations, participants emphasized that the marathon will not only encourage healthy lifestyles but also strengthen fellowship and unity among members from different parts of the country.
Further details concerning registration, race categories, event schedules, and related activities will be announced by the organizing committees as plans progress toward February 2027.
The Physical Fitness Marathon 2027 is expected to be a landmark event, showcasing WKUC’s commitment to health, wellness, and community development while highlighting the facilities and hospitality of the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton.
