
NANDI COUNTY, Kenya – A delegation from the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton (UEAB) paid a courtesy call on Nandi Deputy Governor Dr. Yulita Chebotip Cheruiyot to explore opportunities for partnership and collaboration ahead of the university’s upcoming Innovation & Entrepreneurship Week 2026, scheduled for 27th September to 1st October 2026.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between UEAB and the County Government of Nandi in the areas of innovation, research, entrepreneurship, and talent development. Discussions centered on creating avenues through which young people can transform their ideas, creativity, and talents into innovative solutions, sustainable enterprises, and impactful community initiatives.
Dr. Cheruiyot and the UEAB delegation underscored the importance of collaboration between academia and government in fostering a culture of innovation and supporting youth empowerment. The parties explored potential partnerships that would enhance research, encourage entrepreneurship, and contribute to economic growth within Nandi County and beyond.
The discussions were held in preparation for Innovation & Entrepreneurship Week 2026, which will be held under the theme: “Where Talent Meets Research, Enterprise and Policy: Exploring Sports Through Technology, Science and Enterprise.” The event is expected to bring together researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs, policymakers, industry leaders, and students to showcase groundbreaking ideas and promote innovation-driven development.
UEAB noted that the event will provide a unique platform for highlighting the intersection of sports, technology, science, and enterprise, while creating opportunities for networking, knowledge sharing, and collaboration among key stakeholders.
The courtesy call reaffirmed the shared commitment of the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton and the County Government of Nandi to nurture innovation, support talent development, and create opportunities that empower young people to become drivers of economic and social transformation.
