Baraton, Kenya — 24 November 2025. The University of Eastern Africa, Baraton hereby announces the signing of an historic MoU with the Kenya School of Flying, one of the country’s premier aviation training schools. Today’s ceremony took place at the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority Headquarters in Nairobi, marking a major milestone in the strategic expansion of UEAB into aviation education.

The MoU was signed by Capt. Joseph Martin Ririani, the Managing Director of Kenya School of Flying, and Dr. Paul Wahonya, the UEAB’s Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academics and Student Affairs, in the presence of senior officials from both institutions.

Introducing the Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management for Pilots

Through this partnership, UEAB officially introduces the Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management (For Pilots), a unique program created to combine world-class pilot training with university-level aviation management education.

This partnership places UEAB at the forefront among universities in Africa offering advanced aviation academics.

It will be a program that trains, educates, and examines pilots who will fly the flag of the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton across Kenya, the African continent, and beyond.

Aligned with Kenya’s New Senior School Curriculum

This initiative has come at an opportune time: aviation was introduced as one of the optional learning pathways in Kenya’s new senior school curriculum, and the first cohort of students on the aviation track will join university in 2029.

UEAB is strategically positioned to be among the first universities ready to receive, train, and support this new generation of aviation students.

A Call for Strategic Investment

The University acknowledges that this program needs extensive investment in aviation infrastructure, state-of-the-art training facilities, and highly qualified human capital to realize its full potential.

It is such preparedness that will ensure that an aviation program offered by UEAB is internationally competitive, guaranteeing conformance with global aviation authorities.

A New Era for UEAB

Speaking at the ceremony, UEAB leadership affirmed that this partnership marks a new chapter for the University—one which raises its academic profile and expands opportunities for students across Africa.

“This is a visionary program that, when nurtured well, will raise the status of the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton on the global academic stage,” said Prof. Wahonya.

By signing this MoU, the UEAB will take a further step toward shaping the future of aviation training and consolidating Kenya’s position as a regional aviation education hub.
