Kamagambo University Receives Letter of Interim Authority in Historic Milestone for Adventist Higher Education

KISUMU COUNTY, KenyaKamagambo University has officially received its Letter of Interim Authority, marking a historic milestone in its journey to becoming a fully fledged university and expanding Adventist higher education in Kenya.

The Letter of Interim Authority was presented on 15 September 2026 by HE Hon. William Samoei Ruto, PhD, CGH, at the State Lodge in Kisumu County. The achievement represents the culmination of years of prayer, vision, dedication, and commitment by the Seventh-day Adventist Church and the institution’s stakeholders.

The historic occasion brought together leaders from the West Kenya Union Conference, members of the Kamagambo University Council and Board of Trustees, the Management Board led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Rei Kesis, and other distinguished guests who gathered to celebrate the landmark achievement.

The University of Eastern Africa, Baraton (UEAB) was represented by its Vice Chancellor, Prof. Msafiri M. Jackson, underscoring the significance of the occasion to the wider UEAB family. As a constituent college of UEAB, Kamagambo University’s elevation marks an important milestone not only for the institution itself but also for Adventist higher education in the region.

In his congratulatory message, Prof. Msafiri M. Jackson described the occasion as a remarkable answer to years of prayer, vision, commitment, and perseverance by the West Kenya Union Conference, church leadership, staff, students, and supporters of the institution.

“On behalf of the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton and on my own behalf, I congratulate Kamagambo University on the award of the Letter of Interim Authority. This milestone is the result of years of prayer, vision, sacrifice, dedication, and unwavering faith in God’s leading,” said Prof. Msafiri M. Jackson.

The award of the Letter of Interim Authority marks the beginning of an exciting new era for Kamagambo University as it advances its mission of providing quality, Christ-centered higher education while preparing for the next phase toward attaining a full university charter.
