Vacant Position Advertised for Baraton International School: Primary Teacher I
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of teachers at Baraton International School (BIS) in the Junior Secondary Section, with the following subject combinations: (a) Mathematics/Physics and (b) Mathematics/Chemistry.

Required Qualifications and Experience
- Have a minimum of a Diploma in Education with a minimum of C+ at KCSE (or its equivalent) with C+ in two teaching subjects. A Bachelor’s degree in education will be an added advantage.
- Diploma Teachers Applicants must have:
- A mean grade of C+ (plus) at KCSE or its equivalent and with at least C+ (or Credit Pass) in the two teaching subjects.
- In addition, they must have a Diploma in Education from a recognized Teacher Training Institution. Diploma Teachers who graduated in 2008 or before with a mean grade of C (plain) and C (plain) in the two teaching subjects qualify for consideration.
- Have an active registration as a teacher with the Teachers Service Commission.
- Commitment to student-centered learning and the CBC curriculum. Any training on CBC curriculum will be an added advantage.
- Be an Adventist in good regular standing. N/B: Get recommendation from your local church pastor.
- Be a Kenyan citizen.
- Any prior teaching experience will be an added advantage.
- Bring with you the Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as a role model of good Christian values and maintain learner discipline to create a conducive environment for learning.
- Prepare lesson plans, lesson notes, timetables, schemes of work and maintain academic standards in the school to ensure that the syllabus is covered in time for evaluation.
- Teach the subjects of specialization and impart knowledge, skills and attitude to learner.
- Evaluate the learners in subjects of specialization and prepare learners for national and other examinations.
- Introduce new ideas and programs for improvement in teaching and learning in subjects of specialization.
- Ensure safety and health of learners.
- Ensure cleanliness of the school compound and tidiness of learners.
- Ensure consistency and improvement in curriculum delivery through teamwork and collaborative planning.
- Engage with other teachers and school administrators to enhance CBC implementation.
- Provide guidance and counseling services to learners to instill norms and values for harmonious co-existence.
- Participate in workshops, seminars, symposiums to share ideas and enhance knowledge in subject areas.
- Engage learners in curricular and co-curricular activities so as to identify, nurture and develop talents.
- Facilitate extracurricular activities and link learning to real-life experiences.
- Adapt to new technologies and teaching strategies for competency-based learning.
- Stay updated with curriculum changes and policy guidelines from the Ministry of Education.
- Encourage practical application of learning through hands-on activities.
- Use formative and summative assessments to track learner progress.
- Employ continuous assessment tools (CATs) such as portfolios, projects, and observations.
- Support the development of values, life skills, and emotional intelligence.
- Encourage critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving.
- Create a conducive learning environment that fosters exploration and creativity.
- Utilize learning materials, digital tools, and local resources effectively.
- Ensure inclusivity for learners with special needs and different abilities, organizing remedial actions for learners with performance gaps.
- Perform any other duty as may be assigned.
Salary
A competitive salary package is offered for the position, based on the Baraton International Salary Grading Structure.
