UEAB First Aid Team Presents County Championship Trophy to University Leadership

The University of Eastern Africa, Baraton (UEAB) today celebrated the outstanding achievements of its student first aid team as Ms. Esther Ateka, Patron of the Chopstix Club and Lecturer in the Department of Foods, Nutrition & Dietetics, together with Mr. Ouma Victor Odhiambo, Chairperson of the Baraton University Nursing Students and Alumni Association (BUNSAA), formally presented the Kenya Red Cross First Aid and Emergency Response County-Level Competition Trophy and the team’s participation certificate to Prof. Msafiri Mmamba Jackson, PhD, Vice-Chancellor, and Prof. Kenneth Otieno, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic and Student Affairs, on behalf of the student team that proudly represented the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton.

The award-winning team comprised Faith Hadia, Delvin Chepkurui, Lydia Akeer, Frankline Bundi, and Caren Jepkoech, who represented UEAB during the Kenya Red Cross First Aid and Emergency Response County-Level Competitions held in Kapsabet on 5th June 2026.

Through outstanding performance in both the theoretical and practical categories, the team emerged among the top performers, earning the opportunity to represent UEAB and Nandi County at the Regional First Aid and Emergency Response Competitions, scheduled to take place in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County, on 18th July 2026.

Ahead of the regional competition, the team will also participate in the Power of Humanity Walk, organized by the Kenya Red Cross, on 10th July 2026 in Kapsabet. The event aims to promote humanitarian action, volunteerism, and community resilience, with participation open at KSh 1,500 per participant.

During the presentation, the student representatives expressed their sincere appreciation to the University administration for its unwavering support and commitment to nurturing student excellence through academic, co-curricular, and community engagement initiatives. They acknowledged that the University’s encouragement and investment in student development have played a significant role in enabling learners to excel beyond the classroom.

Receiving the trophy and certificate, Prof. Msafiri Mmamba Jackson, PhD, commended the students for their remarkable achievement, dedication, and commitment to excellence. He noted that their success reflects UEAB’s mission of developing competent professionals and servant leaders who positively impact society through knowledge, compassion, and practical service.

UEAB extends its heartfelt congratulations to Faith Hadia, Delvin Chepkurui, Lydia Akeer, Frankline Bundi, Caren Jepkoech, Ms. Esther Ateka, and Mr. Ouma Victor Odhiambo for their exemplary leadership and representation of the University.
