UEAB BIO Club, Safaricom, and Kenya Forest Service Successfully Plant 1,256 Trees at Kapseret Farm
The Biology Club of University of Eastern Africa, Baraton (UEAB), in collaboration with Safaricom and the Kenya Forest Service, successfully carried out a tree planting exercise yesterday at UEAB Kapseret Farm.
The initiative, which had been carefully planned in advance, resulted in the planting of 1,256 trees, marking a significant contribution to environmental conservation efforts in the region. Students, staff, and partners came together with a shared purpose—to restore green cover and promote sustainable land use.
The event was characterized by active participation from members of the BIO Club, who demonstrated commitment and teamwork throughout the exercise. With guidance from the Kenya Forest Service, participants ensured that the trees were planted correctly to enhance their chances of survival. Safaricom representatives also joined in, emphasizing the company’s continued support for environmental sustainability initiatives.
Beyond the physical planting, the activity served as an educational experience, allowing students to engage directly with conservation practices and understand the importance of protecting natural ecosystems.
This successful collaboration highlights the power of partnerships between academic institutions, corporate organizations, and government agencies in addressing environmental challenges. The newly planted trees at Kapseret Farm are expected to contribute to improved biodiversity, soil conservation, and climate resilience in the area.
The UEAB BIO Club continues to encourage students and the wider community to take part in similar initiatives, reinforcing the message that environmental stewardship is a shared responsibility.
